Explore IoT Kit

Get started with the Internet of Things! Learn how to collect,
store, and visualize data, build remotely controlled
applications, and improve everyday life with smart devices.

Explore the connected world

Teach students about the different applications of the Internet of Things by building real-world smart devices.

Students will explore the fundamental concepts of IoT, such as sensors, automation, data collection & analysis, graphing, cloud storage, and remote control.

Each kit includes all necessary hardware, software, learning content, and support.

Hardware and components

The kit comes with all the necessary hardware for up to two students, including one MKR WiFi 1010 board, an MKR IoT carrier with five tactile buttons and LCD display, a set of sensors and actuators, cables and a battery holder.

All components are packed into a robust reusable toolbox, ideal for storage and years of use.

Online content

The Explore IoT Kit includes access to an online platform with 10 exciting learning activities, which introduce students to core concepts of IoT and challenge them to build real-world applications.

All learning materials include theory, building instructions, detailed illustrations, assembly animations, and code.

The learning content of the Explore IoT Kit is aligned with the Computer Science Standards (CSTA).

Utilize IoT Cloud

Throughout the lessons, students will work with the Arduino IoT Cloud - our cutting edge web-based IoT application. They will use the same tools as the industry professionals do to read, store, and visualize data, and build web-based interfaces for their IoT devices.

Each kit includes one 12 month trial for Arduino Create, which provides advanced features of the IoT Cloud.

Dedicated support

Each Arduino Education kit comes with access to dedicated assistance from the Arduino support team, which is ready to help with troubleshooting, purchases, classroom management or platform-related questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use this kit?

This kit is designed for students aged 16+ who are taking their first steps into the world of the Internet of Things.

Students should already have some knowledge of programming and electronics, as basic concepts are not explained in the content of this kit. However, students don’t need any prior knowledge of the IoT or how to use, for example, cloud services, APIs, and different sensors for data collection.

How do I access the online content?

Each kit comes with a unique activation code, stored under the lid of the packaging. When getting started with the kit, you will be asked to activate it by going to, clicking on “register kit”, entering your activation code and creating an Arduino account.

Once the kit is activated, you can access all the online content by logging in to the platform with your Arduino account.

Which languages does the online platform support?

The Explore IoT learning platform is currently available in English, Spanish, German and Italian with more languages coming soon!

Contact our support team for more information on specific languages.

What other materials would I need to use the kit?

You will need a computer running Windows 7 or higher, Linux, or Mac OS with a USB port, and access to the internet over Wi-Fi.

Some exercises include the use of LiPo 3.7V battery and SD memory card, which are not provided with the kit.

All other hardware and learning materials necessary to build the baseline version of every exercise are included. If students want to further elaborate on the exercises, they might need to experiment with common household items, such as cardboard, tape, plants, etc.
